I'll make him an offer he can't refuse

This was an amazing weekend...TV wise anyway. All weekend on AMC they showed The Godfather I & II. And anyone who knows me, knows that these are two of my favourite movies of all time and I definitely watched them every time they came on. I don't know, but there's something about this sense of family being the most important thing and doing everything first and foremost for the family that I truly admire and respect. Even if they were the mafia lol.

"Fredo, you're my older brother, and I love you. But don't ever take sides with anyone against the family again. Ever."- Michael Corleone (The Godfather I)

Other than that, I spent a lot of time this weekend "discovering" new bands. There are so many Atlanta bands that I had no idea existed and they're all really good. It's always a pleasant surprise when something like that happens. I think when I have more time I'll make a post on these bands. Along with my UK bands post as well. And my Dirty Pretty Things post. Man I need to get on this lol.

Today I'm listening to one of the Atlanta bands I "discovered" this weekend called The Selmanaires. They're another rock/psychedelic/punk-ish band. They're sort of similar to The Black Lips. Just as good too. Hopefully I'll be seeing them at The 40 Watt with The Black Lips in September.

Big things are going to be happening for CHAOS. I can feel it in me bonessss. We got the drama with the website figured out so we've finally got it up, and for a few hours of work, it looks really good. Ashlay-lay is amazing and within the next few weeks I already know the site is going to be ACE.

In having a heart to heart via IM with the webmistress extraordinaire, we realized that this is pretty much what we're destined to do. We can't see ourselves in any other professions(although I wouldn't mind being a chef or working for CNN lol) There's a reason for everything. There was a reason why I decided to go to UGA instead of Xavier even though Xavier gave me an awesome scholarship, and there was a reason why Ashley didn't go to the Art Institute. There was a reason why we all chose to be Journalism majors. There was a reason why we all decided to take astronomy and there was a reason why Lauren wore her "The Academy Is" shirt that one day that made me notice her. And fast forward to today and we're all BFF.

CHAOS is what we want to do with the rest of our lives. This isn't some hobby, or past time for us. We're not trying to become famous or anything, we just want CHAOS to become a reputable, intriguing, and fun magazine that is unlike anything else out there. We're not trying to be music snobs and say we know everything about the scene, because we don't. We just want people to read our view points on certain music, ideas, trends, scenes, fashion, photography, everything.

We're just 3 ladies from Georgia that have something to say, and we finally have a vehicle to do it. I can't wait for the day when we get to the point where people will be saying,

"Oh yeah, I know the CHAOS girls. I really respect their opinions and they always do great interviews with intriguing and interesting questions that I won't read in any old magazine. They're actually interested in more than who so and so is dating or whether they wear boxers or briefs. They realize that there's more to these musicians than looks and they dig deep into the music and lyrics. These are the kind of girls I want to get to know. Plus they're hella fun to hang out with" - lol

When we finally get a printed version we're going to have a huge launch party for our first issue. Maybe we could rent out Tasty World. That would be so much fun. But it would make more sense to do something in Atlanta since that's where most of the people we would want at the launch party live. It might even have to just be at my house lol. But it's going to be AMAZING either way.

Speaking of houses... were about 3 weeks from moving into La casa de CHAOS. Okay it's really an apartment, but anything is better than the dorms. Plus I'll be living with 3 of my bestest friends. I feel all grown up living in my own apartment. It's gonna be fun fun fun. I'm thinking "La casa de CHAOS" is going to be like Andy Warhol's "The Factory"...minus the drugs and booze. But there will be plenty of great parties and happenings, and artistic dealings going on.

It's gonna be hot. Trust me.

Tonight I'm listening to an Atlanta based band called Black Lips. They're a psychedelic/rock band. It pretty refreshing listening to a band like this.

Boys In The Band

You're walking like you never seen the light
You're walking like it every night
But I've never seen you dance, and I've never heard you sing
So how can it mean a single thing
It's all so rudimentary
-The Libertines

Last Wednesday was Warped Tour. It was over all a pretty great day. And in the course of that day I managed to lose my lip ring and my phone(for about 20mins). The phone was found thank god, but the lip ring wasn't. And I think I might have to get it re-pierced now. But whatever. I saw a bunch of new bands this year which was really cool. And unlike all the previous years I actually had a schedule, so we were all pretty busy seeing a band for the majority of the day. That definitely made the day go by faster, but it was all good. Here's the list of bands I saw:

All Time Low- 2nd time
The Almost- 1st time
Bless The Fall- 1st time(the phone drama happened during their set though so I didn't see the whole thing which really sucked)
Boys Like Girls- 2nd time(one word...PAUL!!!)
Evaline- I didn't see their set(saw them at TOC though), but we did meet them at their tent and got a picture
Family Force 5- 3rd time(met them again at their M&G...wasn't that much fun)
Holiday Parade- 2nd time(we got a fist pound hell yeah!!)
The Matches- 1st time
My American Heart-1st time(I LOVE this band!!! We met Dustin while waiting in line to get in)
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus- 1st time(I felt kinda sick during their set so we left, but we came back for the last song)
Spill Canvas- 1st time(They are AMAZING live!!!)
Seven Story Fall- 100th time(Not really, but I've seen them a bunch. I was soo proud of them!)
Yellowcard- 1st time(Okay, I really only heard them while waiting for MAH to start)

Some guy took my picture and then one of me and Lauren together for a tattoo and piercing magazine called "Luxury Ink" that should be on stands in October he said. I can't seem to find any information on the magazine though. Kinda shady...

We didn't get as much free stuff this year like usual which was a bummer. And I was hoping that maybe Steven from SURS would be there since it was Wednesday and they do the whole "Warped Wednesday" thing on FUSE. But he wasn't. =( One of my goals in life is to meet him.

We've got a lot of big plans for CHAOS which I'm really excited about. I read somewhere that only 1 in 10 new magazines ever make it. We have a lot of work to do to set ourselves apart, but I know we can do it. I think we've gained a lot of experience over the past few months, but we've still got a lot of learning to do. We've made a lot of really good friends and connections "in the business" you could say that I think will help us. I think if we stay true to our original goals and stay true to ourselves and our vision, we can be the next AP magazine. Plus the fact that we're actually going to school for this will be a HUGE help lol.

Today I'm listening to a band from Dryburgh, Scotland called The View. I first heard of them from the NME tour they did with The Horrors. I can't really understand what they're saying when they speak, but the music's good lol

Whatcha know about me?

So I just spent the last 30 mins or so looking at/reading other people's blogs, and it's "inspired" me to go ahead and write another. I didn't really feel like it but Leslie Simon(AP writer) says that the best time to write is when you don't feel like it...or something like that.

Warped Tour is tomorrow. I'm not as excited about it as I usually am. I think it's because they're aren't as many big bands that I'm dieing to see like the previous years. There are a bunch of great smaller bands though. It'll be a fun day. I think it's the whole atmosphere that I love at Warped. Maybe I'll meet some cool people. That always seems to happen. It's raining right now, but I hope hope hope it doesn't rain tomorrow.

Something that's really bugging me right now is people who brag. I can't stand it. Everyone likes to share their accomplishments, but there's a difference between that and just down right bragging. I don't care who you know/where you went/what you saw/etc. Majority of the time I'm half listening anyway. I just nod my head and say "Oh that's cool". I'm no one you need to impress so stop trying.

Another thing is sympathy. I consider myself a very sympathetic person, but sometimes I just can't feel sorry for a person. This usually only ever occurs when it's something that they brought upon themselves. I heard it a lot in school. People complaining because they had 3 papers to write and they're due the next day. Or someone decides to do a bunch of stuff at once. I don't feel sorry for you. It's your fault. So it's mostly stuff like that where my sympathy goes out the window.

Umm...don't make plans for me. I HATE THAT!! This happened a lot this year. Don't assume I'll just want to do something or go somewhere. Even if you know I'll want to(and I probably will), still ask me. It makes me feel a lot better. I like when people want my opinion just like everyone else. And if I don't have an opinion about something, get over it. I obviously don't care, so what you want is fine with me. But getting mad is just silly.

Man this blog turned into a huge rant didn't it? I hadn't plan to, but I guess it just poured out of me today. But eh, whatcha gonna do? I'll probably have a "Warped recap" for tomorrow or whenever I get around to writing it.

Today I'm listening to a lovely band from Sunderland, England called The Futureheads. I think a majority of the music I'm listening to these days is from across the pond. There are just so many great bands and musicians that we over here in the good ole US of A are missing out on. I think I'll make that into a blog one day. Oh, and I've still got my blog on Dirty Pretty Things to come =)

This is a public service announcement...

Only not with guitars. (There's going to be a lot of song references in these here blogs I can already see... it's The Clash btw)

So as if I didn't have enough "online" journal type things, here's another one. Only I suspect this one will probably be more personal than the others. I don't know. Just as random though. I didn't realize it would be so hard to pick a blog name and url though. I think I just over analyze these things. Well as to a little insight on why I picked them, it all has to do with music baby(as does everything else in my life).

To start, the blog name, "Ramble On" is the title of one of my favourite Led Zeppelin songs. And Led Zeppelin is my favourite band. It seems to fit this perfectly. It'll more than likely change. But I like it for now. And my url is "up the racket" which I initially got from the name of The Libertines first album "Up The Bracket". Now "up the bracket" according to wikipedia is an English slang term for "snorting cocaine", or it could be "a punch in the throat". And being that I am a non-violent straight edge gal, "up the bracket" wasn't going to work(plus I think it was already taken lol), so I went with "racket". I'm all for loud noises. I do love The Libertines "Up The Bracket" though, so everyone should check it out.

Oh yeah, in addition to my pointless and some times nonsensical ramblings, I'll also probably use this blog for telling who I'm listening to/what I'm into at the moment. I don't expect to have a lot of(if any) readers here, but this is definitely something I need right now. =)

To start it off...right now(and probably forever) I'm listening to Dirty Pretty Things. More on them later.
