I think as technology gets more and more advanced we are slowly losing some of the most special and intimate forms of communication, such as letter writing. I want a pen pal. I had one like a year ago, we met through My Chemical Romance(yeah), but we lost touch. I think that's the problem with everything I do. I'll start something then either lose interest or get distracted and never go back. Such is the story of my life. But this time I'll make myself stick with it. Plus I love getting mail. :)
So we've been in the new apartment, aka "Casa de CHAOS" for a week now. I can't explain how wonderful it is to live in my own apartment and to be able to live with my best friends. Yes we get on each others nerves at times, but at the end of the day all of that is put behind us. Plus I don't think that any of us could stay mad at the other for more than a minute...well maybe 5lol . It's probably one of the best decisions I've made and I'm so lucky to have these 3 amazing ladies in my life. Makes it a little better.
As far as school goes. That's the same ol same ol. I'm taking an Anthropology class which seems like it's going to be very interesting. A lot of people don't know this, but there once was a time when I really considered becoming anEgyptologist . I think I'll keep that as a hobby for now. I'm also taking English, a New Media class, which also seems like it'll be very interesting, and a Journalism class that's intro to print media...yep, this CHAOS girl is on top of thingslol.
Speaking of CHAOS, there have been some ups and downs recently, but everything is a learning experience. We can't expect everything to go our way all the time. We're very lucky to get to do the things that we do now. And for every bump in the road, there are a ton more things that are going to be happening for us. We've done some really fun interviews with some amazing bands recently and we've got some more coming up. There's one band in particular I'm really excited about because they're from Australia and they'll be our first "international" interview if you will. Plus I really love their music and they're not only playing a show in Atlanta, but they're coming to Athens too. I'm trying to help them with booking the Athens show, which is cool because it's always fun to bring a band that you really like to your city.
F.Y.I.- The CHAOS girls + 80s one hit wonders + YouTube = Insanity
We each have our distinctive 80s song:
KristenCHAOS- "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" by Bonnie Tyler
AshleyCHAOS- She says anything by Culture Club so I'm giving her "Karma Chameleon"
LaurenCHAOS- "Take On Me" by A-Ha
I'm trying to get mine changed to "Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley though. Best song ever! :)
Well it's almost 2:30am and I have an 11:15am class tomorrow, so I need to get some sleep. Tonight I'm listening to the wonderful amazingly talented 20 year old Scottish singing sensation Paolo Nutini. I swear, that boy's voice melts my heart. I can't even describe it. I still kick myself for missing his first Georgia show(stupid Halifax playing the same night lol). It was back in March at Smiths Old Bar. This was way before he was as popular as he is now. And 5 months later, everyone knows Paolo and the he's playing the fricken Tabernacle now. Oh how I wish I could've kept him in my back pocket for a little longer. But I will definitely be there, front row, trying not to pass out haha.

Congratuwelldone
That's right, Congratuwelldone. It's a new word coined by the amazingly talented comedian David Walliams on the Big Fat Quiz Of The Year 2006 show that airs on BBC in the UK. It was probably one of the funniest statements made on the show that night. Well that and Noel Fielding and Russell Brand's "Goth Detectives". Hell, everything Noel and Russell said lol.
I love British Comedies. Well I love comedies in general, but it just seems that the Brits do it very well. Some of my favourite comedy shows, and shows in general are from the UK.
The Mighty Boosh
Little Britain
Monty Python
Never Mind The Buzzcocks
My Family
The Catherine Tate Show
The Young Ones
The Office
Green Wing
Peep Show
Keeping Up Appearances
Absolutely Fabulous
Are You Being Served?
Mr. Bean
I'm Alan Partridge
Some of these are old shows, but they're good ones. A lot of British Comedy isn't obvious funny. Sometimes you have to think to get the jokes. And I love that type of comedy.
Individually, some of my favourite UK TV/Stand Up comedians are Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt, Simon Amstell, Russell Brand, Jennifer Saunders, Dylan Moran, Dawn French, Ricky Gervais, David Walliams, Rik Mayall, Matt Lucas, Catherine Tate, Eddie Izzard, Steve Coogan and all the Monty Python guys =)
These guys and gals are comedic geniuses and can always make me feel better when I'm having a bad day. There's no telling how many times I've been really upset and just watching an episode of The Mighty Boosh can put me, instantly, into a better mood.
It just really sucks that we don't get BBCAmerica and we won't get it in the apartment I think. Some of the older shows come on PBS on Saturday nights. But I guess I'll have to keep on watching all the newer shows on YouTube.
Today I'm listening to the band Babyshambles. The band is fronted by the amazingly talented and gifted Pete Doherty. They are a band that I would like to think have a special little place in my heart. Only because I really really really want them to make it. I want Pete to make it. Hopefully he can get himself together before it's too late. He's got a very special gift and there's too much talent in that band for it to all go to waste.
I'll leave you with this...

Heres to tomorrow
And it occurred to me, I think on Lambeth Road
There’s no more need to question life
Or cry for what I’m owed
And now its over so now its done
The English sun is setting and the rude boys on the run oh
Still it's good to be in love with someone
When you’ve always had to be with no one
-Dirty Pretty Things
This song and its accompanying video has a very "end of summer" feeling to it, which I think is appropriate for now. Carl Barat has a way of capturing these types of feelings very well in song.
Tonight was the Projekt Revolution tour with My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Linkin Park, Saosin, The Bled, HIM, Placebo and a bunch others.
And I wasn't there.
This is the first time I've missed a My Chemical Romance show since the first time they came here. Hmph. I did just see them in April though. And I saw Saosin in March at Taste Of Chaos. But I really wanted to see Taking Back Sunday. They're one of the few bands that I really love that I haven't seen yet.
I hate being broke all the dang time.
We start classes a week from tomorrow. This year is going to be better than the last. It has to be. If I screw it up this time, then I'm pretty much out. I already can't really afford it, and I'm having a hard time getting an outside loan because my credit score isn't good enough yet and everyone else I know has messed up credit. But things somehow worked out last year, and they'll work out this year. I hope.
If I don't get all A's and B's these next two semesters I will not go to London next summer. I finally have the opportunity to go and now it's threatened because of this. If this isn't motivation I don't know what is.
But even more than that, I just want to do it for myself and to show people that I can. I'm not fucking dumb and I know that. And I don't ever want to be in this situation again. Having people being disappointed in you hurts and is no fun what so ever.
I'm not allowing myself to go to as many concerts like I'd want to. Money I make from work needs to be saved up to pay for rent when that money runs out and other things associated with the apartment. Plus my phone bill. And things like food I guess. That's always low on my list it seems. You wouldn't think it looking at me though.
The concerts I'm allowing myself to go to are The Academy Is, Boys Like Girls, The Used, Fall Out Boy & Gym Class Heroes(depending on the price), and Paolo Nutini(if I can find tickets). There are so many more that I want to go to, but I just do not need to spend that money.
I'll go to a few local shows as well. If they're $10 or less.
I'm ready to start this school year. The times they are a-changin.

I could write it better than you ever felt it
I love Fall Out Boy.
They're not my favourite band, but they're up there.
And Infinity on High is definitely an amazing cd.
But Hum Hallelujah has never really meant much to me until now.
It's a good song.
FYI: Being called a disappointment fucking hurts. Don't ever do it.
Right now I'm listening to Fall Out Boy(big surprise). You all know them, so there's no need to introduce them to you. Infinity reminds me of being in Athens. It was for some reason the cd I listened to when I was up late writing papers.
love love love all around
